The principal ecologist and Director, Kevin Cook, has worked as a professional ecologist for over 35 years. After 25 years as a conservation officer and nature reserve manager he founded FES in 1999 . He has an Honours degree in Botany and Zoology and has been a lifelong conservationist and naturalist. With a long experience of land management and natural history skills he can combine many disciplines in surveying. Sound advice, succinct, readable and comprehensive reports, and friendly and efficient service are guiding principles of FES Ltd..

  • We conduct surveys of protected species (reptiles, bats etc.), habitats, hedgerows, flora and vegetation communities, and breeding and migrating birds.
  • Give advice for and produce impact assessments, mitigation and compensation.
  • Write management plans and all forms of ecological reports. We have a particular interest in woodland and wetland management.
  • We are ecological advisers to oilwell sites, quarries, solar array and turbine developments.
  • We work closely with Natural England, Wildlife Trusts, architects, planners and county ecologists to produce solutions that are wildlife friendly and acceptable to clients.
  • We write and illustrate leaflets and training material
  • We input the ecology sections for BREEAM reports for sustainable development
